meeting preview for wed feb 2, 2022

Chinese New Year and some good racing but to be honest, a little disappointing there is no feature or even a 'mock' feature race with a raced named after the Year of The Tiger or some other prosperity moniker. It costs nothing and adds to the race day.

And the race that is the feature - we will call it the Tiger Time Cup - looks a beauty pitting together the unbeaten LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO and the now ten-time winner in KHARISMA (SCRATCHED).

Was makes it interesting is the fact both are yet to win over 1400m but both should find the trip more than winnable although KHARISMA (SCRATCHED) has to carry the good-horse weight of 59kg, while LIM'S KOSCIUSKO will carry just 50kg.

So a horse like BIG HEARTED may be the beneficiary of the distance query on the likely two favourites, as his last win was this trip and he will be super strong late.

NEPEAN can always bob up over 1400m so he has to be respected at the weights and to be honest, a few others could easily surprise if the faves are vulnerable.

Elsewhere.... well, do your best in some tough races and while we like HEALTHY STAR in race 7, it's a terrible race and they always spell danger if you take the shorts on an unreliable conveyance.

The omen bet is obviously BIG TIGER in the lucky last and he could very well win first-up with no weight in what is a suitable race.

Click on the race details for the complete race card and the horse name for its history.

Good luck and see you in the forum!

race 1: class 5 - 1600m (polytrack) time: 12:00 prize money: s$30000

1 - GOLD KINGDOM - Due and switch back to his preferred track with blinkers added suggests a result.

8 - HERO IN THE WIND - Did it tough last start so happy to follow from gate 1 and no weight given forward run expected.

9 - ANGEL HALO - Gate will test but should go forward and looks the benchmark on form.

race 2: restricted maiden (2 and 3 year old) (weight for age) - 1400m (turf track 'b' (lc)) time: 12:30 prize money: s$75000

8 - DIXIT DOMINUS - Ran on solidly without being a threat on debut on Poly but subsequent impressive trial has him the one to beat.

7 - DECEPTION - Never a winning threat but work late with support last start was good after promising debut. Hard to hold out.

2 - BINGO MASTER - Winner too good but had everything else covered over 1200m last start and placed this trip two back. Goes close with best work expected late.

race 3: class 4 - 1800m (turf track 'b' (lc)) time: 13:00 prize money: s$50000

2 - CHEVAL BLANC - Never involved till good work late as expected over unsuitable 1400m last start. This trip perfect and can win.

8 - WIND RHAPSODY - Recent wins in Class 5 on Poly but super honest, handles the turf and trip and should figure.

6 - GREAT EXPECTATION - Maiden status some concern - and just missed in a weak affair last start - but is obviously due turf 1800m looks a good combination.

race 4: class 5 (1) - 1000m (polytrack) time: 13:30 prize money: s$30000

1 - ARION SUCCESS - Form better than it reads, drops in Class and hard to hold out with senior hoop from gate 2.

3 - WAWASAN - Lack of winning form some concern but all sorts of issues last start (lost stirrup/saddle slipped) and was due in this type of race prior.

8 - PINDUS - First beaten over 1200m last start but comes into contention back to 1000m.

race 5: class 5 - 1200m (turf track 'b' (lc)) time: 14:00 prize money: s$30000

1 - LUCKY IMPERATOR - Found one better after tough run on the Poly this trip last start. Due and will figure prominently from gate 3.

8 - DRAGON RYKER - Broke overdue maiden status in a slightly easier field than this but won well and honest as a rule so can follow.

2 - WINNING HOBBY - Wins in this Company sooner than later. Gets blinkers and 4kg claim after tough run from gate 10 last start. Goes close.

race 6: class 4 - 1100m (polytrack) time: 14:30 prize money: s$50000

3 - MORTAL ENGINE - Excuses (lame) for only defeat and hard to run down with forward run expected from gate 1.

1 - ROMANTIC - Never a winning threat with support last start but gets blinkers added and always in the mix.

2 - COUSTEAU - Disappointing given the heavy support not to win last start but 3kg claim and head-grer removed could see a result.

race 7: class 5 (2) - 1000m (polytrack) time: 15:00 prize money: s$30000

1 - HEALTHY STAR - Has been costly for punters but race suits, excuses and some in hand last start and may not get a better chance than this.

3 - OUR SECRET WEAPON - Very honest and form - albeit unplaced of late - is better than it reads. Keep safe.

2 - VICTOREM - Changed trainer. Maiden who battles at the races but some recent trials suggests he has more to offer at odds.

race 8: class 4 - 1400m (turf track 'b' (lc)) time: 15:30 prize money: s$50000

2 - HERO - Resuming. Excuses for only bad run (lame) and recent trial suggests a big first up run in a race that suits with winkers off.

1 - AMAZING BREEZE - Excuses (bad start) not to win last start in similar affair after good mile win. Claim helps.

8 - RICVELO - Tough to follow but first up run was good, Oscar C looks a good booking and can figure prominently from gate 1 with no weight.

You will need to login to see all other members tips for this race.

race 9: class 5 - 1200m (polytrack) time: 16:00 prize money: s$30000

2 - OLYMPIA - Resuming after missing place as the even money fave last start. This suits first up and can win with gate 2 and handy 3kg claim.

3 - LIM'S PRIDE - Like to see over longer but gate 1 helps and goes close with a positive ride.

10 - WINNING HAMMER - Changed trainers, trialling very well considering his low rating and pay to keep very safe.

You will need to login to see all other members tips for this race.

race 10: class 1 - 1400m (turf track 'b' (lc)) time: 16:30 prize money: s$100000

9 - LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO - Up in grade an first time over 1400m but undefeated in five career starts and 50kg looks a gift.

1 - KHARISMA - SCRATCHED. Ten career wins all over 1200m and top weight will test but hard to fault form and in this a very long way.

5 - BIG HEARTED - Yes, another first up after missing a place in the Gold Cup but last win was this trip and will be strongest late sans blinkers on the back of a good trial.

You will need to login to see all other members tips for this race.

race 11: class 4 - 1200m (polytrack) time: 17:00 prize money: s$50000

2 - ILLUSTRIOUS - Another fancy drawn wide but smart, loves the Poly and can win again.

1 - REIGNITE - Drawn wide but drops in grade and gets back on to his best surface. Hard to hold out.

12 - BIG TIGER - Resuming. Took a while to break Maiden status but was thereabouts in some good races prior and recent trials good enough to have a say here.
