no better choice than a grand one

meeting preview for fri may 17, 2019

As the days count down to the 2019 Kranji Mile on Saturday May 25, a boutique eight-race Friday card looks a good one for punters.

With some very open and competitive racing of late, winners have been tough to find but while most of the fields tonight have depth, there do look some horses that should win on race and trial form.

In the opener, JK FORMIDABLE might not be a good thing on race form but a recent nice trial suggests the maiden can win in Class 5 Company and he may well give a sight over 1100m with the booking of John Powell a factor.

In race 2, John Powell is again the jockey to follow and VULCAN looks very hard to beat at his Singapore debut.

The former Kiwi just missed at his only race start in New Zealand and his impressive recent trial with blinkers added good enough to win for the bang-in-form Baertschiger stable.

And another from the trials that can win is GRAND CHOICE resuming after a spell in race 5.

The 4YO speedster also has some pretty good race form to his name from his three career starts but it is a couple of very nice trials that suggest the break has improved him and he looks a serious winning hope.

Best Bets: (VULCAN race 2, win), (GRAND CHOICE race 5, win) and (JK FORMIDABLE race 1, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 5 (1, 2, 3 and 6), race 6 (1, 2, 6, 7 and 9), race 7 (1, 2, 3 and 7), race 8 (3, 5, 7 and 8).

Good luck and see you in the forum!
