meeting preview for sun aug 13, 2017

It's safe to say the "Poon Train" has arrived at Kranji.

Hong Kong-based apprentice Matthew Poon started his two-week stint in Singapore last weekend and from 11 rides over two days, he won three and was placed another four times.

Add his first Group winner on the Shane Baertschiger-trained FAALTLESS in the Garden City Trophy and Poon's 2kg claim looks a godsend for trainers and punters alike.

It's not surprising he has nine rides on Sunday and while there are no standouts on what looks a tough day for finding winners, all his mounts have each-way hopes and he is the jockey to follow.

Poon starts the day on ALWAYS A WINNER and while the 8YO hasn't won since January 2015, the race is weak enough to be genuine chance.

KATE'S KEEPER (race 3), BRING ME JOY (4) and MURDOCH (5) all could be good value options for punters while ON ELECTRIC AVENUE could be very hard to beat in race 6.

The market will be best guide on the newcomer SEBASTION BACH in race 7 and DREAMER LEGEND (8), KATAGAS (9) and LIM'S RACER in the last, could provide Poon with another winner or two to add to his tally.

Toot toot!

Best Bets: (KEEPITUP race 8, win), (MURDOCH race 5, value) and (DINGHU MOUTAIN race 9, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 7 (1, 2, 6 and 7), race 8 (1, 3, 5, 7 and 8), race 9 (1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10) and race 10 (1, 5 and 6).

Good luck and see you in the forum!

2 - DISCRETELY RED - Was poorly drawn and ran on from a long way back at Singapore debut. Should be hard to hold out from the better draw over slightly longer trip.
