meeting preview for fri feb 21, 2020

Truth be told this meeting looks a minefield for punters with three poor Class 5's and three maidens making up the majority of the eight-race card.

So it will be worth concentrating on the two better races - a Class 4 Poly mile and cracking Class 3 on the turf over 1400m.

And while the Class 4 (race 6) looks a bit of a raffle with many of the fancies drawn wide, the Class 3 (race 7) is a beauty and one not to be missed.

In fact a few of the horses have (and will be) involved in Group races and GLASGOW first up in 2020 looks a horse to follow this preparation.

The now 5YO had a decent Derby campaign and while he battled in that particular Group 1 and pulled up lame at his most recent outing in September, his recent trial suggests he is back in good order and has the class to have a say in this race.

QUATERBACK also has some good Group efforts under his belt and while his recent form is only fair, he will find this easier and can be considered at odds.

But it may be a very smart 3YO in BLUESTONE who beats them all.

Three wins from five career starts suggests the gelding goes better than just OK and his first up win over 1200m in Class 4 good enough to think he is up to this Company with only 53kg to carry.

Best Bets: (BLUESTONE race 7, win), (CHER race 1, value), and (WHERE SHE'S HAPPY race 5, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 5 (1, 2 and 3), race 6 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9), race 7 (2, 3, 5, 8 and 12), race 8 (1, 4 and 8).

Good luck and see you in the forum!

5 - MEGA GOLD - Showed enough at debut to think he has something to offer with race experience under his belt.

1 - NINGALOO - Nothing last start over 1000m but was running on well at starts prior so should with 1200m in his favour.

3 - HWASONG - Drawn wide but improved on the back of a good trial to run on last start to place and can win this with extra 200m in his favour.

7 - AMORE AMORE - Debuted well enough in Singapore to think he improves for the run and should figure.

1 - DAZZLE GOLD - Drawn wide but ran on well last start on the turf over 1400m and better suited here with blinkers/pacifiers added.

12 - BLUESTONE - Promising and has won three of five the latest when resuming in Class 4 over 1200m. Will appreciate 1400m and may be up to this class.

3 - GLASGOW - Resuming without blinkers. Last win was this class and distance so appreciates the company and can seriously consider on the back of a recent good trial.

2 - FEDERATION - Rider dropped whip but fought on well when resuming. Improves second-up and from the good gate with senior rider just needs to run the 1400m.
